TORONTO, September 20, 2019 – The Real Estate Institute of Canada (REIC) is pleased to announce the selection of Stephen Ashworth as its new Chief Executive Officer.
“After a rigorous search process, the REIC National Board is pleased to have selected the strongest individual to lead the Institute,” said Ken Loeppky, CPM®, REIC National President. “Stephen brings a breadth of experience in education, association leadership, professional designation management, and marketing. This makes him uniquely qualified to lead REIC successfully into the future.”
This selection concludes a five-month search completed by the National Board and Crawford Connect, an executive search firm which specializes in recruiting for Canada’s most respected non-profit organizations. The initial applicant pool was narrowed in stages resulting in a strong field of candidates who interviewed with the Board’s succession committee.
Stephen holds a master’s degree in education and has led such organizations as Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council, International Institute of Business Analysis, and Junior Achievement Canada, strengthening education and reach for these organizations. Stephen has also served in management roles with the Halton District Catholic School Board.
The REIC National Board would also like to thank Sandra De Medeiros, CAE who has capably served as Interim Executive Director & CEO.
Stephen joins the Institute at a transitional time in REIC’s 65-year history. Working with staff, members, partners, and professionals he will help the Board plan for a future where REIC is at the helm of high ethical standards, professionalism and integrity in real estate.
