Designations​

REIC Classic Designations

Although REIC has been proud to offer our Classic designations, due to changing market conditions, they are no longer being offered by the Institute (see exceptions below). These credentials continue to be a mark of excellence. Members with these designations indicate to the real estate sector that they have unique qualifications.

The CRES and FRI(E) are still available to students who wish to pursue those designations. For more information please contact Membership Services.

CRES – Certified Real Estate Specialist

The CRES member is an individual who has balanced knowledge in all areas of real estate. It is earned by only the top performers, who have demonstrated exceptional skills, training, experience and commitment that have gone above and beyond any provincial licensing requirements.

In an industry with over 65,000 practitioners and a high turnover rate, a CRES member is a proven specialist with a passion for the industry and a desire to obtain the very best deal for each and every one of their clients.

FRI(E) – Fellow of the Real Estate Institute (Executive)

The FRI(E) designation is designed for the real estate professional who does not hold a license. The experience that an FRI(E) has earned has come at the executive level, usually in the area of real estate management rather then sales and brokerage.

The FRI(E) is a symbol for real estate excellence that signifies experience, credibility and professionalism. These individuals have carved a niche in real estate as an experienced and dedicated professional and by obtaining their FRI(E) designation – they have obtained the industry recognition that they deserve!

FRI(A) – Fellow of the Real Estate Institute (Appraisal Specialist)

Individuals who hold an FRI(A) designation hold all the knowledge of an individual who has earned the FRI designation.- plus knowledge in appraisals and valuations of properties up to triplexes and undeveloped building sites.

Those who hold this designation stand for accountability, recognition, and ethical standards. They know what it takes to meet the demands of today’s marketplace – and produce outstanding results!

CMOC – Certified Manager of Condominiums

An individual holding the CMOC designation is recognized as a professional who is extremely knowledgeable in all facets of condominium association management. Fulfilling the objectives of condominium owners while controlling operating costs and enhancing property values are just a few of the daily goals of those who hold this distinguished designation.

CMR – Certified in the Marketing of Real Estate

Through a combination of education, experience and adherence to a strong code of ethics, an individual who holds a CMR is a real estate professional who excels in the marketing of real estate properties.

For those who hold this prestigious status, they have a sophisticated understanding of real estate market analysis, a firm grasp of marketing strategy and product policy, know the essential elements of promotion, publicity, advertising and sales; while being familiar with the fundamentals of consumer behaviour and motivation. All essential in trying to help clients sell their homes!

CLP – Certified in Land Planning and Development

Education and experience are what makes an individual a qualified CLP member! Individuals holding this designation have earned it through maintaining fifty percent of their time working in land planning and development as well as 5 years of credited experience. In addition CLP members have taken numerous core courses specializing in land planning and development.

Although not currently marketed by the Institute, the energy used to obtain these designations by our members is real and the relevance of them in today’s real estate market is irreplaceable!
